Dear Sir/ Madam,

As a sequel to the commitment of Hon'ble Prime Minister at the India- Africa Forum Summit, FICCI in partnership with the Department of Science & Technology in partnership and MEA would be hosting an India-Africa S&T Ministers Conference & Tech Expo on March 1-2, 2012 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi . The event will be inaugurated by Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh, Hon'ble Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Government of India . This major ministerial level event is being organised in coordination with the African Union Commission and is expected to be attended by about 40 S&T Ministers from across the African continent along with equal number of senior officials from various countries.

The event is expected to provide a platform for the advocacy, outreach and commitment of India under the framework of the New S&T Cooperation Initiative with Africa . Besides showcasing the value based relationship and opportunities which India can offer, the Ministerial Conference will help to develop linkages and also secure the interests and commitments of the African partners to this Indian initiative. The presence of the policy makers from both sides is expected to outline future S&T interactions including collaborative research, exchange programs, knowledge and technology transfer platforms and various capacity building mechanisms which are relevant to the African country's needs.

The conference will also have an exhibition to showcase some of the best Indian technologies/innovations from across the sectors.

I would request you to kindly make it convenient to attend the conference on 1-2 March 2012 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi .  A copy of tentative program is enclosed for your reference.
