UN Women attaches great importance to the role of youth in achieving women’s empowerment and a ‘Planet 50-50’ by the year 2030. It is also a key step towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The objective of the event is to create a platform to strengthen intergenerational partnership by bringing together diverse voices across generations. The dialogue will result in a roadmap for follow up and momentum building among Indian youth on gender equality.

BACKGROUND:
UN Women’s ‘LEAPS’ framework calls for strengthening young women’s leadership, promoting economic empowerment and skills development of young women, and action to end violence against young women and girls. Additionally, it makes a case for promoting the participation of young women and their organizations, partnerships with young men in gender equality as well as intergenerational partnerships.
The role of youth partners is to challenge old gender stereotypes and norms that are detrimental to the success of women and to replace them with new gender-inclusive policies.
