A
moderate earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale Thursday shook
Kashmir valley, causing panic among the residents but there were no
reports of any damage caused by it.Kashmir, located in highly earthquake-prone siesmic Zone V. Tremors were felt at 7.32 pm in north India.

The tremor was felt at 1930 hours IST (Indian Standard
Time) in most parts of Kashmir, triggering panic among the residents who
rushed out of their homes, officials said. Metl Department said the epicentre
of the earthquake was in Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan.There were no reports of any damage or casualty caused by
the tremor.

According to Meteorological Office, the epicenter of the quake was located 194 kilometres deep under

tremors were felt in Pakistan cities
Rawalpindi, Lahore, Jehlum, Sargodha, Chiniot, Abbatabad, Malakand,
Hafizabad, Kasur, Hafizabad, Sahiwal and Jalalpur Bhatiyan.The
earthquake also rocked parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar
and its surrounding region including Mardan, Chitral, Nowshehra and
Kohat.
However, no report of any untoward incident has been received from any of the above parts of the country.
