RBI: No shortage of currency

Reserve Bank of India has again clarified that there is no shortage of currency and sufficient notes are being supplied to banks for disbursal, therefore the Central bank requested people not to panic or hoard currency notes.

The apex bank further informed that it had increased production of currency notes a couple of months ago and so there is no need to panic.

Meanwhile, the government has eased cash withdrawal limits for farmers and families who have marriages lined up in this wedding season. On the other hand, exchange limit for invalid 500 and 1000 rupee notes has been reduced from 4500 rupees to 2000 rupees effective from tomorrow.
