Naresh Kumar Sagar : An event at the the Embassy of France in India presented stylist Geeta Khanna’s opus, Style of India, in association with her company Hirumchi Styling, and French publishers Hachette India.Well-known for her endeavour to preserve and promote the unique arts, crafts and heritage of India, Geeta Khanna has brought out a book that combines extensive research with lavish visuals. The result is a remarkable volume that spans India’s fashion and style history from the Harappan civilization to contemporary Indian fashion.The event was well attended by Intellectuals and writers media and fraternity of art, culture and design. The President of Indian designers association Sunil Sethi spoke the gala effort of Geeta Khanna and her teams to make the book valuable both from historical and designers perspective.
MsGeeta Khanna, the author, briefly threw light on the book and sharedher experience in collecting heritage documents from various sourcesto illustrate the fashion of India. The book contains pictures thatshowcase fashion diversity.
MrSunil Sethi applauded the enormous work done by Ms Geeta. Heemphasized the need of such book to showcase the fashion of India atthe national and international level. He also shared with theaudience that today more and more fashion designers are participatingat the international platforms to showcase the fashion of India.Reputed Indian fashion designers from India participated at the Parisinternational fashion. The participation by them enhanced the imageof India. At the international level people are aware of Indianfashion and more and more people across the world emulating Indianfashion. That is a pride for India.
