Dear Naresh,
“I love Haldiram’s. Like most Indians, I enjoy their fresh homemade style meals. But I recently found out that they dispose off all the food left at the end of the day ...” says Abhimanyu in his petition
“I’ve started this petition, requesting Haldiram’s to start donating unconsumed edible food to a partner charity of their choice - which can then supply it to people who don’t have access to sufficient food and nutrition.”

Haldiram's: #StopFoodWaste. Donate it instead.

I love Haldiram’s. Like most Indians, I enjoy their fresh homemade style meals. But I recently found out that they dispose off all the food left at the end of the day to maintain the freshness.
While I appreciate Haldiram's commitment to serve fresh food to customers, it seems unacceptable to me that so muchedible food is thrown away everyday - when it can be given to those who need it. Not to forget, when food wastage is also an environmental and natural resource hazard.
So, I’ve started this petition, requesting Haldiram’s to start donating unconsumed edible food to a partner charity of their choice - which can then supply it to people who don’t have access to sufficient food and nutrition.
You can help. Sign my petition and ask Haldiram’s to donate their fresh food instead of discarding it at the end of the day.
According to United Nations annual hunger report, India is now home to the highest number of hungry people in the world, at194 million, surpassing China. In our country where 47% of Indian children are underweight, nutritious meals are a privilege that lakhs can not afford.
Haldiram’s is a household name in India and they’ve managed to keep their food healthy and nutritious over the past few decades. Wouldn’t it be better if instead of throwing away the remaining food at the end of every day, they gave it away to people who would otherwise sleep on an empty stomach? By donating food, Haldiram’s could lead the way for the food industry to do their bit to remove hunger and malnutrition from the country.
Sign my petition and ask Haldiram’s to donate edible food instead of throwing it out daily.
If enough of us sign, we can show Haldiram’s that their customers want them to tackle the food crisis in India by donating leftover food. This way, Haldiram’s can also become a role model for other restaurants to follow suit and who knows, a sizeable portion of urban poverty and hunger in India could be catered to.
Sign this petition. Together, we can create a healthier, more nourished India!
