| Abe arrives in Sri Lanka |
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Sri Lanka on a one day official visit. This is the first visit of a Japanese Prime Minister to Sri Lanka in 24 years. Mr Abe was greeted by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. Immediately after arrival, the Japanese Premier launched stage 2 of the Airport development project which is being funded by Japan. The two leaders will have official level talks later in the day. Mr Abe will also address a delegation of business leaders of the two countries in Colombo. Japan, which is the largest donor country for Sri Lanka, has said that he would push for greater trade ties between the two nations during his visit. |
