Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) general secretary Dhanraj Choudhary has become the first Indian to be elected as one of the Board of Directors (BoD) to the international sport body (ITTF).

He was elected during International Table Tennis Federation's Annual General Meeting held in Paris on Thursday night.
Choudhary was nominated to the decision-making body by the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU), following his service to the sport in the region, particularly India.
"I feel honoured to have been elected to the BoD of the ITTF. I have an added responsibility of discharging my duties towards promoting the game globally. I will do it with all consciousness and to the fullest ability. But, first and foremost, I will want to take Indian table tennis to another level," Choudhary said from Paris where World Championships are being held.
He has been associated with table tennis for more than two decades -- first as a player and then as a technical expert. He was a part of the ITTF's technical committee until last year when it was wound up to take another form.
Choudhary has been among the jury members of various technical committees, representing the country at a number of international events, including the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Olympics and World Championships.
Choudhary took over as secretary-general of the Indian body when his predecessor Moolchand Chouhan died during his tenure in 2009.
Meanwhile, ITTF president Adham Sharara has been re-elected to his post in the world body.
