Kazakh military plane crash kills 27 A military transport plane has crashed in the Central Asian nation of Kazakhstan, killing all 27 people on board. Antonov An-72 disappeared from radar on Tuesday just before it was due to land at an airport in Shymkent, southern Kazakhstan. The jet was a model developed during the Soviet era. The aircraft was later found in pieces about 20 kilometers from the city. 27 people, including border guards and crew members, have been confirmed dead.
