Park bids candidacy for S.Korean president

Park Geun-hye,  from the ruling conservative Saenuri Party, promises "a country where no one is left behind". Former leader of South Korea's governing party Park Geun-hye has declared her candidacy in the presidential election scheduled for December.Park bid in front of supporters in Seoul on Tuesday, saying she wants to realize the dreams of every citizen and create a better nation.

Park is the daughter of South Korea's late President Park Chung-hee, who led its industrialization drive in the1960s and 70s. He was assassinated in 1979.Younger Park, who is 60, used her fame in South Korea to steer the Saenuri Party to victory in parliamentary elections in April.Opinion polls show her as the presidential election frontrunner, with around 40 percent support. She is projected to win the party nomination in August.Last  5 years ago,  she failed to obtain the party nomination, losing to incumbent Lee Myung-bak.The opposition camp has criticized Lee's government for prioritizing business and widening income disparities in the nation.Main theme of the December election will be on economic policies and soured relations with North Korea.
