Italy declares emergency flood-hit northwestern
Italy declares a state of emergency in the flood-hit northwestern areas of the country as residents dig out from tons of mud that has buried roads and houses. The government on Friday said it was releasing 91 million dollars in aid to help towns clean up after Tuesday's floods. At least seven people were killed in the torrential downpours that triggered flash floods and massive mudslides in the picturesque regions of Tuscany and Liguria.
