Mamata Banerjee condem arrest of MP Sudip

We strongly condemn the politically vindictive attitude of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. They have arrested our Parliamentary Party Leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay. He is a veteran politician and senior leader of our Party.
It is all because of our fight against #NoteBandi. We are and will be with the people. Nothing can stop us from being with the people and we will continue with our protest against #NoteBandi.
The situation now is more than that of financial emergency – from financial to political emergency. We condemn, condemn and condemn this.

China-London freight train service

China Railway already runs services between China and other European cities, including Madrid and Hamburg.
The train from Yiwu to London,  take about two weeks to cover the 12,000 mile journey and is carrying a cargo of clothes, bags and other household items. The rail service will pass through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany Belgium and France before arriving at Barking Rail Freight Terminal in East London, which is directly connected to the High Speed 1 rail line to the European mainland.
Rail service  has the advantage of being cheaper than air freight and faster than sea.
London will become the 15th European city to join what the Chinese government calls the New Silk Route.
Due to different railway gauges involved, a single train cannot travel the whole route and the containers need to be reloaded at various points.
The Chinese government is keen to boost its economy in the face of slowing export and economic growth.Media agencies

British PM May defends BISP aid to Pakistan

The misappropriation of millions from the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA postal departments has come to the surface on Wednesday here, Geo News reported.
Over 72 thousand widows and poverty-stricken persons are provided financial help under BISP in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA, but this relief amount in fact did not reach thousands.
According to the documents acquired by Geo News, cash withdrawals were made against several names through the signature of a single individual.
Sources said that Accountability Bureau has started investigation into the scam and has seized three mini-trucks loaded with records.
British PM Theresa May strongly defended British taxpayer-funded cash handouts under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to the people in Pakistan, after a senior Tory MP called for a review of the programme which he compared with “exporting the dole”.
After a sensational article was published in a leading English daily, Downing Street said the scheme was helping the poorest families in Pakistan and was an efficient and effective way to make sure they had the support they needed and that it was not a corrupt scheme.
Britain’s Department for International Development (DfID) helps fund the Benazir Income Support Programme which offers cash amounting to just over £10 a month to some of the poorest families in a country where 60 million people live on less than £1 a day. The scheme had started during the government of Pakistan People’s Party and has been continued under PM Nawaz Sharif’s government.
A spokeswoman for PM Theresa May told a Westminster briefing that there were “robust” systems in place to protect against corruption and fraud.
“These are cash transfers that are focused on making sure that aid is targeted at those who need it, when they need it. The effectiveness of such transfer schemes has been recognised by the Public Accounts Committee and the National Audit Office who have spoken about the clear, immediate benefits of this system,” she said.
“In the last four years, cash transfers supported by the UK aid have helped almost nine million of the world’s poorest people to buy food, medicine, and clean water. There are robust systems in place to make sure that they are not being exploited for fraud and corruption.”
“We think it is a respected system for getting aid to those that need it most. We would only pursue such an option where we were clear that results had already been achieved and verified. So, for example in the case of Pakistan, the programme there, we are providing a small contribution to a much bigger programme run by the government of Pakistan, where there are already proven results. There are robust systems in place to protect our aid investments. One of the things that is being introduced at the moment is making sure there are more biometric payment systems to make it one of the most secure programmes in the world,” the spokeswoman said.
MP Nigel Evans, a former Commons deputy speaker and member of the International Development Select Committee, warned that cash transfers were “clearly open to fraud”.
Those associated with this scheme are of the view that the cash handouts to some of the poorest people cut out any middlemen, reducing the risk of fraud and minimising the cost of the programme, which is helping around 5.2 million families overall.
Tory MP Mr. Evans called on International Development Secretary Priti Patel to urgently examine the use of cash transfers.
He said: “Normally this sort of aid is only given in a crisis or emergency when it is the only way to give help. It only should be a temporary measure, but it seems like we’re exporting the dole to Pakistan, which is clearly not a clever idea.”
UKIP spokeswoman on international development, Lisa Duffy, said:  “Surely common sense tells us that giving cash handouts in a country that has its own nuclear weapons and space programmes is simply wrong. Our own UK taxpayers are facing more and more cuts on a daily basis whilst we are providing benefits to the citizens of Pakistan.”
Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Pakistan last week of Nov 2016 has signed a $430 million agreement to strengthen Pakistan’s Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
Werner E. Liepach, ADB’s Country Director for Pakistan and Haseeb Athar, Secretary, BISP signed the project agreements in the presence of Enver Baig, Chairman BISP.
“The direct cash transfer project will help reduce poverty among the most vulnerable groups specially women in Pakistan. The project will broaden the social safety net enabling millions of poor families contribute positively towards country’s overall development,” said Werner Liepach.
The programme launched in 2008 with the immediate aim to lessen the adverse impact of rising food and fuel prices on low-income families, identified 7.2 million families for cash transfer assistance, but about 2.4 m of them cannot receive payments because women do not have national identity cards required for getting assistance through the programme.
Hence, to speed up access to cash transfers for more eligible families, the ADB will support mobile teams who will issue the cards to needy families at their doorsteps.
The project, funded through the ADB’s highly concessional Asian Development Fund, will disburse cash income support to the female head of eligible family on quarterly basis till December 2018.
“The current phase of investment will expand the skill development program to increase income generating capacities of the targeted poor families; it will also introduce a pilot health insurance scheme to improve poorer families’ access to medication and health facilities.
The project will also strengthen the financial management systems to ensure that resources are delivered to needy families in most efficient and transparent way,” added Werner Liepach Media agencies

Another arrests of Park Geun-hye’s aide daughter Chung Yoo-ra

South Korean government has ordered the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, the woman at the center of a massive presidential scandal, to turn in her passport in a bid to pressure her to return home and face an investigation, diplomatic sources said Tuesday.
Chung Yoo-ra was arrested in the northern Danish city of Aalborg on Sunday on charges of illegal stay. She is suspected of receiving favors from a Seoul-based college in the admissions process and on tests by taking advantage of her mother’s ties to the president.
South Korea’s ambassador and envoy in Denmark met the 21-year-old, who is currently in the custody of local police, and delivered the order personally to turn in her passport. Under a relevant law, her passport will be nullified within a week.
The sources said that the criminal extradition process is underway to bring back Chung to Korea, adding that the government plans to seek cooperation from the Danish authorities as soon as it receives an extradition request from the justice ministry.
Confirming the delivery of the order to Chung, the ministry said that it is ready to take steps to nullify her passport unless she turns it in by Monday.
Special prosecutors looking into the alleged corruption scandal surrounding President Park and her friend Choi had requested that Interpol put Chung on the wanted list after she declined to respond to the investigation team’s repeated summons.
At the request of prosecutors, the foreign ministry earlier mailed the order to turn in her passport to Chung’s home in South Korea but it was not delivered since she had been staying abroad.
Chung’s mother is suspected of meddling in state affairs and influence peddling. The president is also accused of conspiring with Choi.
South Korean prosecutors have said that the equestrian daughter of the friend and informal advisor of impeached President Park Geun-hye had been arrested in Denmark over the weekend on charges of staying there illegally.Denmark police arrested Choi Soon-sil’s daughter, Chung Yoo-ra. South Korea had reportedly asked Interpol to find Chung because she didn’t return home to answer questions about the massive controversy.
The arrest warrant for Chung in the influence-peddling scandal was issued in December in connection with alleged criminal interference in business.
South Korean authorities were working for her return to the country in connection with the scandal that led to the impeachment of the South Korean president on December 9 following weeks of protest in the country.
“We will request an emergency extradition of Chung, working with the special prosecutor’s office,” Lee Chul-sung, commissioner general of the Korea National Police Agency, told a media briefing in Seoul.
The two countries have an extradition treaty.
Chung is a leading athlete and a member of the group dressage equestrian event at the 2014 Asian Games.
Besides being in the news due to her family’s high-profile connection with the impeached president and for receiving special treatment from the prestigious Ewha Womans University, where her admission was subsequently cancelled, Chung is also reported to have received 2.8 million euros from Samsung.
Samsung’s J.Y Lee had in December, during a parliamentary hearing, admitted to providing Chung with a horse.
According to reports, Samsung, which sponsored the equestrian athlete, agreed last year to pay $18 million to Core Sports International GmbH, a consulting firm controlled by her mother Choi Soon-sil.
This sponsorship is now being examined by prosecutors as they try to determine whether the technology giant, which was also funding and chairing the Korea Equestrian Federation (KEF), sought favors from Choi and President Park in return for funding initiatives backed by them.
“A crucial part of our investigation is to look into why Samsung and the KEF supported Choi Soon-sil and her daughter Chung Yoo-ra and transferred funds to companies set up by Choi or involved with Choi,” an official at the special prosecutor’s team told Reuters.
Samsung’s offices have been raided twice by prosecutors but none of its officials have been charged with any wrongdoing.
Park was alleged to have worked with her longtime confidante Choi Soon-sil to pressure big businesses to make contributions to non-profit foundations backing presidential initiatives.
Choi is currently facing trial on charges of abuse of power and attempted fraud following accusations she had access to secret government documents and intervened in state affairs.
Lee Kyung-jae, a lawyer representing both Choi and Chung, said the daughter would cooperate.
“When Chung Yoo-ra returns I will ensure that she fully cooperates with the special prosecution’s investigation,” the lawyer told the Yonhap News Agency.
Embroiled in this huge controversy, Park, 64, could become South Korea’s first democratically elected leader to be forced to leave office early. South Korea’s constitutional court has six months to uphold or overturn the impeachment.
Until then, she continues to formally be president but stripped of her powers, which have been handed to the prime minister, a presidential appointee.
Whatever the court decides, the scandal has already put recurring complicity between big business and government in South Korea under intense scrutiny.
“We created a miracle on the streets,” said You Jong-il, a professor of macroeconomics and development policy in Sejong City, referring to the huge, peaceful street protests demanding Park’s resignation.
“But we are still very worried about whether we will really be able to change Korean society and Korean politics.”
The beleaguered president has, meanwhile, denied wrongdoing but apologised for negligence in her ties.
At a press conference on Sunday, she claimed the accusations against her are fabricated and false.
“Rumours, stories, and broadcasts have been distorted, and false information has been getting out of hand,” she said during a meeting with reporters.
And referring to Park’s hastily called press conference, chairwoman Choo Mi-ae of the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea (DPK), said, “She is such a weird President.”
“Rather than appealing to the media in a clumsy fashion to avoid impeachment, she should face the independent counsel’s questioning.”
Bae Jong-chan, the chief director of political pollster Research and Research, also said Park’s denials are unlikely to help in any way.
“In terms of timing and content, the people will not accept the President’s denials,” he said.

Kejriwal BRT Worse Than Sheila Dikshit BRT Shops Under BRT

January04, 2016 (C) Ravinder Singh progressindia2015@gmail.com
A month before BRT was opened for Public after delays – I was asked by an Aaj Tak reporter to research on BRT – I told him to just wait for one hour. I went around BRT in auto Memorized all the Bottlenecks and pin pointed all the Major Defects which was made in to ‘BRT Ka Kanta’, two months later Walter Hook agreed with all the comments I made at a public hearing and through a blog also.
Not just that Motor Vehicles registration has increased by 50% but also the space allocated for Buses & Motorized Vehicles reduced by 50%. Number of Buses has declined.
Earlier there ‘Three Bus Lanes, Two Platforms and Two By Two Motor Vehicle Lanes’ adding up to nearly 9 Lanes. In addition Two Wheelers were using Cycle Lanes & Pedestrian Walkways.

This effectively means there were 11-12 Lanes Space in Use Yet There Was Acute Congestion and Average Speed reduced to 12 kmph at peak times. It Shall Be Total LOCK DOWN after this BRT is implemented. [Pictures in attachment]
1.   It is Horrendous There Shall Be Retail Shops Under and Around BRT subways.
2.   Obviously PATHWAYS Occupy more Right of Way than Highway.
3.   See Saw 3×3 Highway has no U-Turn Arrangement which could avoid Traffic At Red Light Signals.
4.   Heavy Commercial Vehicle Traffic & Overtakings – is Hazardous for Cars 2-Wheelers

20 Reasons Demonetization is Worse Than US Subprime Crisis

20 Reasons Demonetization is Worse Than US Subprime Crisis
January04, 2016 (C) Ravinder Singh progressindia2015@gmail.com
There was total mismanagement of Economy due to gross Incompetence of key Drivers of Financial Management. Raghuram Rajan was sidelined and dullards like Amitabh Kant and Arvind Panagariaengaged. With installation of Urjit Patel, the extreme dullard there was no protection against Weird ideas.
US Economy was and is fine and at the time of Subprime Crisis – US was prime mover of Innovation in the world and US Companies operated businesses worldwide. Its Agriculture was Robust exports were over$100b, Everything was sound – Banks were overflowing with money and ‘Funded Home Loans well beyond the Buying Capacity or Needs of US citizens’. Even at the peak of Subprime Crisis Obama Administration to protect Deposits of Public in Banks and Stocks assisted Banks but did not give free aid – Government released for Equity in Companies.
From the very first day BJP government started massive investment in WEIRD INFRA projects borrowing money from Banks that were CORRUPTED and not viable. To prop up falling companies – Government lowered interest rates for Corporate– This led to 1. DRYING UP of Bank Deposits.

India was already Battling 2. Housing sector, 3. Agriculture, 4. Industry, 5. Exports, 6. Foreign Investments, 7. R&D, 8. Oil & Gas, 9. Healthcare, 10. Education, 11. Water Storage & Sewage Treatment, 12. Trade, 13. Railways, 14. Urban Transport, 15. Jobs, 16. Low Tax Collection, 17. Growing Urban Rural and Rich Poor Divide, 18. Social Unrest, 19. Tension on Borders, and 20. Growing GHG and Pollution.
Secondary Sector – Index of Industrial Production was 176.9 in March2015 inched up barely to 179.5 in September2016 or 1.5% in 1.5 years. Per capita Growth was Negative.

Primary Sector – Agriculture Was Negative due to Drought.

Tertiary Sector – Services & Trade was booming But For All Wrong Reasons – Rail & Road fares were increased even as Crude Prices fell by half, Moneylending, Hoarding of Commodities, Import of Foreign Made Goods, Substantial Increase in Healthcare and Education Costs etc.
Instead of Hiring Technology Leaders & Professionals, GoI let Gadkari, Prabhu, Goyal, Jaitley, Uma Bharti etc to Run the Government.
At this time India is Sinking Ship and No One Is Plugging the Leaks.
