MNREGA Bachao Rally and Dharna

The present NDA Government has clearly shown its pro-corporates and anti-poor agenda, which also has dangerous communalist line to it. The continuous atacks on democratic spaces and proposed changes and dilutions in hard earned pro-people laws such as MNREGA, Land Acquisition, Forest Rights Act etc.  and the subsequent cut  in social spendings and budgets, will make lives of the marginalised much more difficult.  

It is in this context that a mass moblisation on 2nd December, under the banner of  ’Abki baar Hamara Adhikar’, was organised by people’s movements, campaigns and organisations to send a clear message to the Government that any move to take away the rights of the people will face collective resistance. 

The December moblisation set the tone of the process of the larger collective effort, and as a continuation of it, we are organising a state level rally in Haryana with demands to protect pro-people laws, rights of weaker sections of the society,  rights and security of religous minorities and values of Indian Constitution. The MNREGA Bachao Rally and public meeting will not only see presence of thousands of labourers but will also be a confluence of issues related to land and natural resources, social security and entitlements, labour rights and right of the poor and marginalised. To voice our issues, we have chosen Tohana, the constituency of Choudhary Birender Singh, Union Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking water and Sanitation, so that message is loud and clear!

Do join us, so that our collective resistance and struggles are intensified towards a just, democratic and peaceful society!

Following are the details related to the event:

Ø The rally will start from Kalpna Chawala park, Tohana at 11.30 am and will reach S.D.M court at 2 pm 

Ø A public meeting will be held at S.D.M Court at 2 pm

Ø Memorandum will be given to S.D.M. at 3 pm
