Last minute Seferovic snatches Switzerland victory over Ecuador

Last-gasp Seferovic snatches Switzerland victory
ESTADIO NACional, Brazil: Switzerland secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ecuador in the latest turnaround of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, with Haris Seferovic scoring in stoppage-time after Enner Valencia and Admir Mehmedi looked to have secured a point for both sides.
It was a cagey start from the Group E sides, but the Swiss began the brighter with quick feet from Xherdan Shaqiri allowing him the space to test Alexander Dominguez. Ottmar Hitzfeld’s side were made to pay for sloppy defending soon after, though. Stephan Lichtsteiner felled Jefferson Montero on the left flank. From Walter Ayovi’s resulting free-kick, Enner Valencia lost Johann Djourou to head home unmarked from four yards.
The pattern of play returned to Swiss dominance – with action predominantly around the Ecuadorian third – but Reinaldo Reuda’s team hinted at their continuing threat on the break. Ecuador earned their place in Brazil with the highest percentage of headed goals from all 32 sides, but it was Valon Behrami to force Dominguez into action from the air next, meeting Shaqiri’s corner well. Despite consistent pressure, and countless crosses, the central Europeans could not find an equaliser – with Felipe Caicedo almost breaking though their backline to make them pay for their profligacy right on half-time.
Hitzfeld decided they needed a change, with Valentin Stocker making way for Mehmedi – paying instant dividends. Finally a ball into the box paid off, with Ricardo Rodriguez’s corner being met by the Freiburg youngster, nodding in ahead of Carlos Gruezo from close range. Both goals did not reflect well on either ‘keeper’s desire to command their areas.
Enner Valencia was looking a threat with the ball on the deck as well as in the air, firing narrowly over from the edge of the area, before Diego Benaglio forced Montero’s near-post effort behind with his feet. Josip Drmic thought he had put Switzerland ahead, but he was flagged offside before slotting past Dominguez, then Shaqiri fired into the side-netting moments later.
With the game getting stretched, Benaglio charged from his goal to meet Gruezo, but needed Steve Von Bergen to tidy up with the net gaping. The game ended at a frenetic pace and with seconds to go Seferovic struck. A superb tackle own area from Valon Behrami began a late charge, finding Rodriguez on the left, who crossed for the late substitute to fire dramatically into the roof of the net.Media agencies

FIFA CUP 2014: France beat Honduras, Argentina wins Bosnia

Football: Messi off the mark as Argentina win World Cup opener

Football: France beat Honduras as goal-line technology sparks mayhem
Fair is Foul , Foul is fair in the game of Soccer when neat players with their technique and speed reign and those smashers into the players rather than the ball makes the game more yielding and demanding. Power of muscle wrestling with touch class did was evident with the Europeans side at their best but Swiss in sluggish speed made to the win. Argentina and Brazil has inputs of Euro touch but stamina and power is with Latin America and Afro players.

World cup  at PORTO ALEGRE where people line up to see their star performer  Lionel Messi who scored a sparkling individual goal and created another as Argentina overcame a faltering performance to opened their World Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Bosnia on Sunday. France excelled in their opening match with intensity of their speed,skill and technique but neat game too was missing in their squad well neat players are frugal but neat times could be naught.
The Barcelona superstar produced a trademark moment of magic on a night that also saw France beat Honduras 3-0, with the help of the first goal decided by goal-line technology. Switzerland came back to beat Ecuador 2-1.France beat Honduras with their speed and power plus technique but  goal-line technology sparks mayhem
Hordes of Argentina fans helped transform Rio´s famous Maracana Stadium into a corner of Buenos Aires as the South American giants eased past their Group F rivals.
Messi, hoping to secure his status as one of footall´s greats by shining at this World Cup, had a largely quiet game by his high standards.
But the diminutive striker provided the two decisive moments of the match for Argentina´s goals.
Messi´s teasing free-kick caused panic in the Bosnian defence after only two minutes and eight seconds, when the ball came off Sead Kolasinac´s legs and went into his own net, the fastest own goal in World Cup history.
On 65 minutes Messi electrified the 78,800-capacity stadium with a moment of magic, jinking towards the area and unleashing a low shot which flew past Asmir Begovic in the Bosnian goal.
The only blemish for Argentina was a late goal from Bosnian substitute Vedad Ibisevic, who slid his shot below the advancing Sergio Romero. The win puts Argentina on course for the last 16 with games against Iran and Nigeria to come.
Elsewhere on Sunday, France made World Cup history by defeating Honduras 3-0 with the help of the first goal awarded in international football using computer generated 3-D technology.

France beat 10-man Honduras 3-0 in a bruising World Cup clash on Sunday where goal-line technology awarded the first international goal in history, causing mayhem in the process.Three minutes into the second period, the German-manufactured GoalControl system was called into action when a volley from Karim Benzema, who ended the night with two goals, came back off the post. It bounced back into the area before hitting Honduras goalkeeper Noel Valladares with the ball then diverted back towards the goal.The keeper tried to scoop the ball to safety, but Brazilian referee Sandro Ricci awarded the goal — classed as an own-goal — after consulting the instant technology.France, whose 2010 World Cup was a footballing and public relations disaster, dominated the Group E match, twice hitting the woodwork in the first half.
First, Blaise Matuidi fired the ball towards the target but Valladares saved well and pushed the ball on to the crossbar. Then, on the 23 minute mark, Antoine Griezmann, selected ahead of Olivier Giroud, climbed above the defence but headed on to the bar.Stoke City midfielder Winston Palacios was yellow-carded for a brutal stamp on Pogba with the Frenchman also booked for a retaliatory kick.Palacios was then red-carded in the dying moments of the half for another foul on Pogba inside the box.
Benzema converted the resulting penalty for his seventh goal in his last seven internationals.
The Real Madrid striker then played the crucial role in his team´s historic second goal before striking his second of the night from a tight angle in the 72nd minute.

A book on “Uttrakhand – Kedarnath Medical Rescue Operations”

16 06 2014

New Delhi, 15 June 2014
A book on “Uttrakhand -  Kedarnath Medical Rescue Operations” by Dr. Pradeep Bhardwaj & Six Sigma Team was released on the first anniversary of the gigantic natural calamity in Uttarkhand in June 2013.
The book highlights the spirit of mankind which voluntary reaches out to those affected by natural disaster. It brings out the role of Six Sigma Team in Uttrakhand flood landslides (June 2013) in organizing “Medical Rescue Operations” at Kedarnath & Badrinath and which saved lives of 511 people. This effort wasa milestone in the history of the nation as the team members put their lives at risk for providing medical relief services to pilgrims in inaccessible pockets of Himalayan terrain, where crucial roads had suffered extensive damages, landslides had cut off the upper reaches and line of communication were down.

Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava (IAS) Chief Secretary of Delhi was the chief guest of the event and Dr. D.S Rana – Chairman Sir Gangaram Hospital, Dr. D. R. Rai -Former President IMA, HQ Delhi, Dr. Rajat Mohan Senior Consultant- Sir Gangaram Hospital, Brigadier KB Chand- Army HQ Delhi, Mr. Rahul Sharma Senior  Editor were the Guest-of-Honour at the event. Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava (IAS) Chief Secretary of Delhi launched the book and appreciated the efforts of Six Sigma Medial Camp Volunteers, who worked with the Indian Armyfor rehabilitation and relief of the survivors of this natural disaster during the initial crucial phase. He also addressed the audience consisting of students, representatives of welfare organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). He applauded the voluntary medical support and assistance rendered to the survivors, and expressed the hope that their effort would be an example for others to follow. “This example of volunteerism is touching and inspiring, and as an Indian, I am proud that Dr. Bhardwaj & Six Sigma Team have made a lasting impression in the hearts of so many” he said.
The last year’s natural calamity of June 16 through 19 that devastated the whole of Uttarakhand and large areas of Himachal Pradesh and western Uttar Pradesh — an area of almost 20,000 sq.km. — was one of extreme rare severities among all the hydro-meteorological disasters to have struck India. Intense point rainfall exceeding 200 mm occurred within a 24-hour spell and continued with lesser intensity for a few more days over several locations in the Alakananda and Bhagirathi basins. Such short-duration intense rainfall in June has a statistical recurrence interval exceeding 500 years.
Dr. Bhardwaj is a dynamic, confident and courageous star performer of Indian Healthcare Industry and is author of two famous books on healthcare management “Opportunities in Healthcare Administration” and “Latest in Hospital & Healthcare Management”. Dr. Bhardwaj is renowned hospital administrator, recipient of many prestigious awards like – Limca Records holder for being the Youngest Medical Superintendent at the age of 26 years, Rajiv Gandhi Award and Rashtriya Ratan Award-2009 (first recipient in healthcare management). He is listed in 20 most influential people in healthcare.

The book while highlighting the magnitude of the unprecedented tragedy has exposed many shortcomings things like the government lacks the organizational skills, equipment and trained manpower to respond swiftly when faced with a war-like situation during disaster and save lives in a quick and organized manner. Also our armed forces, although ever ready to help, were heavily handicapped in the absence of superior aircraft and all-terrain vehicles, high-tech communication posts, heavy machinery lifting equipment, and quick action teams capable of delivering relief and constructing makeshift bridges, shelters and airports.
The contents of the book are enriched by including experiences contributed by volunteers, partners and beneficiaries about their first-hand involvement in the rescue, as well as the team’s focus and plan on rehabilitation through counseling, treatment, the relief & recovery in the initial phase. Sh. Pravesh Verma, MP West Delhi and Dr. Rajat Mohan, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, also sent their congratulatory message and appreciated Dr. Bhardwaj’s efforts and service to the country.
“I would like to thank all the volunteers who were involved in the execution of relief project. Without them, even efforts of government would not have materialized,” said a guest. “It took an emotional and physical toll on the lives of survivors and volunteers alike. But, by the same token, it also brought out the best in volunteers, uniting many willing hands and generous hearts in the relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts that followed. He expressed that this evening and book would bring everyone who was involved in the mission closer. During the occasion the chief guest also honored the members of Six Sigma Medical Rescue Teams Dr. Pradeep Bhardwaj, Maj. Gen S.B. Akali, Dr. Brajkishore Rajoriya, Mr. Maninder Singh, Mr. Ashish Sharma, Mr. Bharat Sharma , Mr. Hitesh Kaushik for their valiant efforts in Kedarnath & Badrinath Rescue Operation.

Dr Pradeep Bhardwaj stated that “as their commitment towards serving nation, this year Six Sigma Team is organizing medical camp for devotees undertaking the arduous annual Amarnath yatra”. “The situation has changed considerably over the last few years as the weather remains unpredictable most of the time there and those caught in between the way should have the physical strength to counter all odds and adversities”. Former MLA Bhai Bharat Singh was the guest forSh. Amarnath Ji Yatra Medical Camp Training program and had motivated the volunteers & appreciated the efforts of Dr. Bhardwaj and team Six Sigma. The groups of volunteers were given brief sessions by six sigma experts and training about preparedness for high altitude medical camp services & how they can keep themselves safe and healthy for tough physical activities. Initially training explained the mean & measures so that before departure every volunteer becomes fit to walk at a stretch without any stopovers and help other yatris in medical emergency.

Dear Naresh,
Sun, June 22, attend a strategy session on diplomacy with Iran in Brooklyn.

RSVP

In just a few weeks, the interim deal with Iran, spearheaded by President Obama’s diplomacy, will come to an end.
It’s too early to tell what will happen in Vienna where the negotiations are taking place, but one thing is certain: those in this country who have been pushing for war these past few years will find a way to renew their campaign to take diplomacy off the table.
That’s why we wanted to let you know about an event our partner Berim is organizing that will bringing together representatives of pro-peace organizations and groups in New York on June 22nd for a strategy session on diplomacy with Iran. At the session:
  • Meet other organizers from the state that are keen to work on this issue;
  • Media experts will share the latest research about the most effective ways to communicate this issue;
  • Be briefed by people close to the negotiations about the latest developments and scenarios on July 20;
  • Take part in a conversation about strategy and collaboration we can work on together on this issue.
This is a critical moment in the negotiations process. We need to be ready to counter attempts to sabotage diplomacy and drive us toward another senseless war. We hope you’ll be able to join.
Here are the details of the event:
When: Sunday June 22nd
Where: The Commons, 388 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn. (It’s a five minute walk from the Nevins stop on the 2,3,4,5 and the Hoyt -S stop on the A, C and G lines)
What time: 9am till 5pm.
Please RSVP as Berim needs numbers for catering.
Thanks for all you do to help promote US-Iran diplomacy,
Megan Iorio
