Al-Jazeera journalists jailed for 7-yrs in Egypt for supporting Muslim Brotherhood

In Egypt, three journalists of al-Jazeera TV Channel, accused of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, have been jailed for seven years.
A court in Cairo convicted Peter Greste, Mohammed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed of , what it called, spreading false news and supporting the now banned Islamist group. The trio have denied the charges.
Nine defendants tried in absentia, including three foreign journalists, received 10-year sentences.
The trial has caused an international outcry.

Govt to provide additional interest free loans of Rs. 4,400 crore to cash-starved sugar mill

Centre has decided to provide additional interest-free loan of up to Rs. 4,400 crore to sugar mills and hike import duty on sweetener. The decision is aimed at enabling the cash-starved industry pay their huge arrears to sugarcane farmers.
Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan told reporters in New Delhi that import duty on sugar will be increased to 40 per cent from 15 per cent and export subsidy will be extended till September this year to give relief to the sugar industry.
The industry owes Rs. 11000 crore to cane growers most of whom are from Uttar Pradesh.
The Minister said, efforts will be made to implement mandatory five per cent ethanol blending with petrol and subsequently achieve ten per cent blending target.

The Government is committed to give impetus to entrepreneurship in Media and Entertainment sectors. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said this while addressing 8th Annual Summit on Media and Entertainment in New Delhi today.
Mr Javadekar said, interaction between government, industry and society at large can help bring consensus on contentious issues.
The Minister said, Indian culture and civilization is so diverse and rich that it has always attracted the world to India. He added that Indian cinema has reached to all corners of the world and it can be made more popular.
On problems in distribution and taxation, the Minister said, the mantra of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Government is making fast decisions without any delay.
Stressing on continuation of dialogue with all stakeholders, he said, Government and Industry have to think about the common consumer.
He said that the emphasis should be on talent and creativity so that wholesome and healthy entertainment could be provided.

General Budget to be presented on 10th July & Rail Budget on 8th

The Budget session of Parliament will begin from 7th of the next month. The session spread over five weeks will come to end on 14th of August.
The decision was taken at a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi this morning.
Official sources said in New Delhi that the General Budget will be presented on 10th and Rail Budget on 8th. The sources said, Economic Survey will be tabled on 9th of July.
Besides, transacting financial business, the session will have heavy legislative agenda of the new government.
