Japan’s space agency has successfully launched an H2B
rocket on Saturday. Onboard is a cargo carrier, the Kounotori 3, which
will deliver goods to the International Space Station.The rocket blasted
off from the Tanegashima Space Center in southwestern Japan at 11:06 AM
local time.15 minutes later, the Kounotori 3 separated from the rocket
at an altitude of about 288 kilometers.
The Kounotori is an unmanned cargo carrier developed in Japan to
deliver supplies to the space station, which is orbiting 400 kilometers
above Earth.This was the third launch of the spacecraft following one in
January last year.The Kounotori 3 is carrying 4.6 tons of supplies,
including experiment hardware to be used by Japanese astronaut Akihiko
Hoshide on the space station.Inputs from NHK
