Iran hold talks with permanent members of UNSC

Iran has made a formal offer to hold talks with the five permanent members of UN Security Council and Germany over its disputed nuclear program.

Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili has written to European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Marie Ashton in this reagrs. He has said the two sides set a timetable and choose a venue for the talks.

Iran’s Official news agency, IRNA said, Jalili’s letter was delivered on Wednesday in Brussels for a constructive approach. There has been no immediate response from the EU.

Talks with Iran broke more than a year ago. Western nations allege that Iran has been trying to acquire nuclear weapons capability under the garb of its disputed nuclear program. Iran insists that its program is for peaceful civilian purposes.
