Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday said the Delhi Govt would soon send a detailed response on the Shunglu Committee findings on Commonwealth Games irregularities to the Home Ministry and ruled out action against anybody without a thorough probe.
Hitting out at the BJP for targeting Delhi Government following the Shunglu Committee report, Dikshit asked why the party was not taking any action against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa for his alleged acts of corruption.
"We are preparing a final report in response to the Shunglu Committee findings. It will be a paragraph-wise reply to every allegations. Our report is almost ready," Dikshit said replying to a question on Tuesday."Let the findings of the probe come out. We cannot take action against anyone without any proof. We cannot take action against anyone based on what BJP says. What about B S Yeddyurappa. The BJP can only throw stones at others," Dikshit said.
After arrest of sacked CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi's arrest, the BJP had demanded Dikshit's "immediate arrest" on the basis of the Shunglu Committee report.Delhi BJP Chief Vijender Gupta alleged that bungling of Rs 1,500 crore was committed at the level of the city government in CWG spendings. Queried whether the city government has received any communication from the Home Ministry asking to explain its position on the findings of Shunglu panel, Dikshit said, "No".The administration of Delhi, being the Union Territory, comes under the control of Home Ministry. "So far we have not received any communication from the Home Ministry. It may come today," she said on Tuesday. The Home Ministry has sent the report of the Shunglu Committee to Delhi government, Delhi Development Authority and New Delhi Municipal Council and asked them to explain their position on the findings of the panel within a month.
The city government, which already rejected the findings of the panel as a "product of paranoia", had sent a brief report to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last month, trashing the report. In the brief report, the government had rejected almost all the findings of the panel and instead accused it of deliberately choosing to adopt a logic of "convenience" in finding corruption in every policy and every tender of the government.
The Shunglu Committee has submitted six reports on broadcasting, Games Village, city infrastructure, Games venues, Organising Committee and Main Report Organisation and conduct of CWG 2010.The report on city infrastructure was referred to the Home Ministry by the PMO for appropriate action on the queries raised by the Shunglu panel in works done by the city government-controlled departments.
